Chairs

If you have not already done so, please consider volunteering some of your time this school year to support your student(s) and your Coffman PTO and Coffman Staff! If you are interested in chairing a committee in the future and would like to co-chair this year to learn more, please reach out to the current chair or one of the PTO Board Members. PTO provides a listing of interested volunteers to each committee chair at the start of the school year.

PTO Volunteer Raffle

Win a guaranteed junior year parking spot or a Coffman Gift Basket! Every time you attend a PTO meeting or volunteer for a PTO event you will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win one of the above prizes. Your choice! Drawing will be held in May 2017.

Baccalaureate

Baccalaureate is a non-denominational program for our seniors to celebrate their graduation and includes speakers and performances. The event is sponsored by PTO and planned and organized by senior Coffman representatives. PTO provides the reception following the program and also leadership and support to the seniors planning.
  • Lisa Guzik ▸ 2016 ⇀ 2017 Committee Chair
  • Committee planning begins January/February; most work done in April and May
  • 3 or 4 parents are needed to help plan the reception (underclassmen parents)
  • Reception and program printing funded by PTO
  • Includes 3 - 5 meetings with student group, 1 meeting with parents planning reception
  • Secure venue (typically held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church)
  • Coordinate program printing

Celebration of Excellence

This annual event occurs in April and recognizes students nominated by their teachers for excellence.
  • Wendy Schwantes ▸ 2016 ⇀ 2017 Committee Chair (Co-Chair Needed)
  • Gather committee members (3-5, plus volunteers depending on hospitality needs)
  • Organize reception including refreshment needs
  • Coordinate invitations and awards

Class Parent Representatives

Responsible for attending PTO meetings and representing their respective student class and supporting the events for which that class is responsible (see below).

College and Career

Working closely with the Coffman Guidance office this committee hosts visiting college representatives in the fall:

  • Coordinate volunteers to welcome college representatives visiting Coffman
  • Meetings are during the school day and occur in the Fall
  • Prepare thank you notes

PTO President's Scholarship

Coordinate Coffman's participation in the PTO President's scholarship process.

Senior Banners

Coordinates process for senior parents to purchase senior yard banners for their student.

  • Planning and process occurs in Spring
  • Confirm design and work with vendor (Sign-o-Rama has been used in the past)
  • Ensure flyer is included in Senior Packet
  • Coordinate receipt and order from vendor (students pick up their banners at the school main office)

Casino Night (Senior Dinner)

This annual event is fun-filled evening for the seniors with food and games provided. Event is held at Coffman.

  • Planning begins February / March, most time-intensive April/May
  • Gathering committee members (includes sub-committees i.e. food, games, decorations, raffle, favors)
  • Great event for senior parents to help and see kids they've grown up with (typically easy to get volunteers)
  • Coordinate food, games, decorations, raffle, event tickets
  • Funded by PTO and ticket sales
  • Robust previous year planning notes available for reference

Shamrock Grants

Annual process to award PTO funds to Coffman staff
  • Paula Rosenstein ▸ 2016 ⇀ 2017 Committee Chair
  • Awards requests are submitted mid-late Fall and grants are awarded in January/February
  • Create and distribute request form
  • Coordinate responses and review (work closely with PTO and Coffman HS leadership)
  • Coordinate communication and work with Treasurer to distribute fun

Hospitality
